Kyle in Poland: Days 86-87
Gameday, Adventures in town, Trying new food, Beach trip, and more, Photos at the end
Before our playoff game on June 24, I slept very poorly. Tossing and turning for most of the night, I eventually fell asleep at an extremely late hour.
Unfortunately for me, the alarm blared just a couple hours later at 8 a.m.
I begrudgingly got up, got ready for the game, stretched, and left for the field. To learn more about our dominant playoff victory, read all about it by clicking here.
After the game concluded, I went back to my room and laid around for a while. When I finally decided to get up, I showered and prepared to hit the town to celebrate.
Like any other summer weekend, there were many people out and about, making the town very lively.
I maneuvered through the crowd of people to a restaurant I had been wanting to try for months, Polski Burger.
Located seemingly underground, you had to walk down a flight of stairs in order to get to the restaurant. To me, this always sounded like somewhat of a sketchy proposition, but I was ready to try it out.
I walked down the steps, saw that they were open, and walked in.
To my surprise, the inside was incredibly nice. The place appeared clean, new, and relatively fancy.
I went up to the front desk to order. The girl did not know much English, so she asked one of her co-workers to help. This guy turned out to be incredibly kind and friendly.
I happened to be wearing my team shirt which he recognized. He asked how the game went, and I told him we won.
The man said, βOf course, you guys win every game.β
I laughed, surprised that he followed along with our team.
βJust about,β I replied, and we continued to conversate for a bit. I learned that he was a soccer player for a local club and knew Greg, which was why he was so familiar with our squad.
When I was ready to order, I obviously could not read the menu, so I just told him what I wanted. I ordered a double meat bacon cheeseburger with ketchup only.
The workers were shocked and even chuckled because I did not want any vegetables. I chuckled along with them, understanding that I was a peculiar eater. Afterward, I completed my order and took a seat.
I happened to be the only customer in the store at the time, so luckily my food came out pretty fast.
To my surprise, the burger was quite glorious. Far exceeding my expectations, the flavor of the burger, combined with melted cheese, and a sweet, light ketchup sauce, made it very good.
I ate my food and left, incredibly pleased with the new restaurant.
A couple minutes later, I crossed another long-awaited item off my Polish bucket list.
Ever since I had arrived, I had noticed numerous ice cream shops around town and even walked past some of them on a daily basis. Now that it was officially summertime, all the shops were finally open, and this was the perfect time to try it.
I stopped at a nearby shop and got a few scoops of both Oreo and chocolate ice cream. This dessert turned out to be fantastic, and quite the game-changing option for my sweet snack needs.
I bought a decent sized cup, but since it was so good, I devoured it quickly. When I finished eating, I tossed the cup in the trash and walked to the beach.
Unexpectedly, the walkway leading to the beach was completely transformed. Instead of the typical gravel drop off and dirt road, there were proper stairs and a concrete path. It was a massive upgrade.
I walked through and picked a spot close to the water. Although I did not stay as long as usual, I really enjoyed my time there. Just simply being at the beach was immensely soothing and relaxing. It also certainly helped that there were beautiful sunsets and endless waves.
Thirty minutes later, I walked back, but made a quick detour, stopping by the mini arcade to see what they had to offer. It was a really neat little place, and I would have played a couple games, but I did not have any coins with me.
After walking through the arcade, I went back to the apartment.
The rest of the night was a bit more laid back. I cleaned my room, wrote the game recap, and hung out for a couple of hours before I went to sleep.
The next day, I was extremely tired and slept for nearly 12 hours.
When I finally awoke, I showered, got ready for the day, and made sandwiches.
I spent a lot of time laying around resting, on my phone, etc. I stayed on social media for a while and read several sports articles until I grew bored. Then, I spent a couple of hours editing the game recap.
Once I was able to reach a stopping point, I made wings for dinner. I then ate, cleaned, and spent a great amount of time working on stories, yet again.
Eventually, I made final edits and published. With that story out of the way, I began working on another one.
After some time went by, I decided to call it a night and settle in. I then took a quick shower and before I knew it, fell asleep.
The hut on the beach - restrooms?
Well that made me want a burger! Looked delicious π
